Breaking news: House Science Committee confirms in a newly-released report what we've long suspected: Russian agents have been operating a campaign to stoke opposition to American pipelines and shale energy production.
The U. S. House Science Committee released a report March 2, 2018 entitled, "Russian Attempts to Influence U.S. Domestic Energy Markets by Exploiting Social Media" available at the link below, which also shows tweeted images and messages that were used. See key excerpts from the report below.
This new bombshell has extra meaning when coupled with last week's stories about LNG tankers offloading Russian natural gas in Boston Harbor, where new U.S. pipeline supply routes into the city have been blocked by Massachusetts politicians.
In a statement that accompanied the release of the report Thursday morning, committee Chairman Lamar Smith said, "This report reveals that Russian agents created and spread propaganda on U.S. social media platforms in an obvious attempt to influence the U.S. energy market. The American people deserve to know if what they see on social media is the creation of a foreign power seeking to undermine our domestic energy policy."
