COVID-19: Updated Federal Guidelines on Essential Energy Infrastructure Workers

The Federal Government recently (4/17/20) updated its guidance as to who is considered "Essential Critical Infrastructure Workers", with a major section on the energy infrastructure workforce. It updates previous guidance published March 28.

EEIA did a side-by-side review with the previous edition, and are providing a version of the Energy Section with additions highlighted, available here. The full CISA guidance document is available here. Significantly, it adds liquids pipeline construction workers, who were not included in the previous version.

The guidance stresses that it is "advisory in nature" and is intended to assist state and local officials as they work to protect their communities. We would add that some states have adopted these guidelines, others have adopted them with modifications, and still others have either adopted their own guidelines or issued none at all. A state policy tracker is available at this link.
